Musée de la Citadelle de Bourg, Souterrain et Calèches

The Bourg Citadel Museum is located near the castle with its XNUMXth century neoclassical architecture.
In the 70th century, the citadel of Bourg, Bordeaux's lock, was propelled to the rank of impregnable citadels thanks to the work of the Duke of Épernon, whose underground vault remains a vestige that you can discover during guided tours. You will also go to the basements, whose old stone quarries became the site of the construction of impressive reinforced concrete oil tanks measuring XNUMX meters long and used during the Second World War.
Its collection of horse-drawn carriages which will be detailed to you during the guided tours will surprise you.

From June 1st to September 30th: open every day.
In March, April, May and October: open every weekend and public holiday (except May 1).
Closed from November to February.
Guided tours take place at 10am, 11:30am, 14pm, 15:30pm (except Friday and Sunday) and 17pm.
Wear comfortable shoes, as there is some walking to get from the museum to the oil tank.
