The Importance of cycling in Blaye Bourg Terres d’Estuaire

In Blaye Bourg Terres d'Estuaire, cycling is not just a means of transportation. We cycle with pleasure to explore the landscapes of our beautiful destination, take essential routes and discover our heritage.

Along the Atlantic coast or in the heart of the land between sea and ocean, the Vélodyssée and the Canal of the 2 Seas cross our territory offering cyclists a portion rich in discoveries. The route of Gironde Bike Tour reveals all the diversity of estuarine landscapes, with Blaye as the highlight!

The 3 Essential Bike Rides

01

The loop between Vineyard and Estuary

Departing from the village of Blaye, you can hop on your bike for a 30,9 km loop suitable for the whole family, and passable all year round. Between cycle paths and small picturesque roads, this bike ride of just 2 hours is ideal for riding with the family through the vineyards of Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux, visit a wine château and discover the surrounding heritage. Take the time to enjoy this route at your own pace, which is one of our favorite walks, and don't miss the opportunity to stop for a refreshing picnic!

02

The Organic Wine Loop

Among our favorite bike rides, we obviously find the Organic Wine loop! Set off to discover the castles grown biodynamically by taking the legendary cornice road. Between vineyards and estuary, this bike ride around the charming city of Bourg offers breathtaking panoramas. Churches, wine castles and unique viewpoints punctuate this walk! Allow 2 hours to cover the 25km of this loop which honors the vineyards of our destination and our heritage!

03

The cycle path between Blaye and Étauliers.

Integrated into the V80 and the Canal des Deux Mers à Vélo route, this greenway offers a peaceful way to discover the heritage of the region over just 15 km. Borrowed by pilgrims from Saint-Jacques de Compostela before their stop in Blaye, this walk is also suitable for family outings! We enjoy learning more about the history of the old railway line thanks to the explanatory panels that line this bike route!
