For a romantic weekend or a getaway with friends or family, we have put together a turnkey program for you to explore our heritage between Blaye and Bourg. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of our typical villages and meet our locals who are proud of their territory!

We are well placed to know… it can be very difficult to select the essential visits and activities to discover our beautiful destination for a weekend! Some say that choosing is giving up... but they have clearly never met our elite teams who know the territory like the back of their hand!

Saturday, Blaye in all directions

A Saturday morning isn't really a Saturday morning if you don't stroll around the Blaye market! Take the time to wander through the stalls overflowing with local products from our region. Smell, taste, and contemplate the excitement that reigns in the city's main street!

Take advantage of your walk in the heart of the ancient village of Blaye to discover the history of Blaye and admire the paintings and photographs exhibited all year round on the town walls.

Need to take a break ?

Aperitif time is approaching and the Estuary Cave is the perfect place to have a drink. Peckish ? The tapas are delicious!

Dejeuner…

Time flies and lunch time approaches... To taste gourmet cuisine, without fuss and made with fresh produce, head to the restaurant Le Gavroche, acclaimed by the locals! We love its simple and tasty dishes and we don't mind sitting on the terrace when the nice weather arrives!

Unusual visit

It's 14 p.m., you're full and several choices are available to you to continue this day!

For history lovers, discover in detail the workings of the defense system skillfully developed by Vauban as well as the secrets of the citadel, by taking part in the guided tour of the citadel through the underground passages!

If you prefer to let yourself be carried away, we recommend a cruise on the Gironde Estuary (unforgettable!) or a picturesque train journey to Plassac.

16 p.m.… Young and old alike deserve a gourmet break! The essential address will of course be Lily à la Vanille to taste artisanal ice creams and sorbets with surprising flavors! And since the citadel of Blaye dominates the waters of the Gironde from its rocky peak, don't miss the opportunity to taste these sweet treats while admiring the panorama that stretches out before you!

Dinner at La Citadelle restaurant

To end this emotional day in style, admire one of the most beautiful sunsets over the estuary from the restaurant The Citadel !

Once night has fallen and your stomachs are full, it is time to return to your accommodation to give yourself some well-deserved rest. At La Maison Blanche, we love the hearty buffet breakfast and its beautiful terrace. At the Auberge du Porche, it's difficult not to be seduced by the building dating from the 18th century and Christine's legendary hospitality!

Sunday

After exploring Blaye, the second day of your getaway will be dedicated to roaming along our beautiful Corniche road until Bourg. From the foot of the cliffs to their summit, we can only recommend that you follow this route to make the most of all the panoramas!

The village of Bourg

The view of the Dordogne from the heights of the ramparts

This is at Plassac that you will make your first stopover! It's difficult to discover all the treasures of this village in just a few hours. A good half day will not be too much to visit the perfectly well preserved remains of the Gallo-Roman villa, admire the contemporary mosaics installed in the streets of the village or embark on a treasure hunt with Terra Adventure !

Picnic in the open air

12:30 p.m.: After the hearty meals of the day before, let yourself be tempted by a simple frichti made with our local products! Local cheeses, asparagus, figs and Blaye pralines will make your picnic a little feast... washed down (moderately) with our Blaye or Bourg wines! It's up to you to choose: at the top of Plassac near the Montuzet virgin or next to the port with the sound of sailboats.

The Corniche Road

The village of Bourg

We end our weekend with the village of Bourg ! Typical with its limestone, built on a rocky promontory on the banks of the Dordogne, it offers beautiful walks in its streets which welcome artists and craftsmen. Every Sunday morning, the market under the covered market allows you to fill your baskets with local products to enjoy on site or to take away!

Don't miss the workshop Hands in the earth to bring back a souvenir of your weekend. The Bourg tourist office, Burgus wine cellar and Côtes de Bourg wine house also welcome you on Sundays to bring back some good bottles, local products or the village's sweet specialty: Bourg fig !

Before leaving, let yourself be tempted by a visit to the Citadel gardens and its museum. The guided tours of the underground passages, the unique collection of horse carriages and the oil tanks from the Second World War are incredible!

19 p.m.… Time to eat. Extend your stay at the restaurant before enjoying the magnificent sunsets over the estuary !

This restaurant in the heart of Bourg offers traditional cuisine.
