Family holidays

Our destination is full of ideas for everyone!

Get up, get up! It's the holidays, and yet it's impossible to sleep in... Your little ones are overexcited at the thought of busy days, simply because the holidays are a source of leisure and pleasure.

How can we combine local tours with walks in the fresh air without seeing their little faces become sullen or bored? How can we combine education with pleasure once our schoolbags have been put away for two months?

Don’t panic, you’ve come to the right place! In Blaye Bourg Terres d'Estuaire, we know how to pamper our little visitors and their parents for unforgettable moments spent together as a family. We have a whole range of activities to satisfy their enthusiasm and boundless energy...

We're sharing a discovery with you in revision mode!

From prehistory to the 17th century, follow the Dordogne then theEstuary of the Gironde, the longest in Europe at 75 km, where civilizations have left behind nuggets to discover over the centuries...

PREHISTORY

La Pair-non-Pair Cave, older than Lascaux, is home to cave drawings engraved in the stone, more than 30 years old. Mammoths, bison, horses and ibexes are all messages left by our ancestors and frozen in the rock for thousands of years (visit from 000 years old).

♥️ We recommend you enjoy a nature walk near the Grotto at Moron natural site, natural wetland partly classified as Natura 2000.

ANTIQUITY

La Gallo-Roman Villa of Plassac ! This superbly preserved archaeological site reveals remains dating back to the 2nd century and provides an insight into the daily life of the inhabitants of this villa during the Roman era.

♥️ We advise you to browse the village of Plassac by a walk in the alleys, discovering contemporary mosaic works before joining, along the bank, the port and finishing with a snack or picnic.

THE MIDDLE AGES

Explore the ancient village of Bourg-en-Gironde, a medieval village with picturesque charm! Nestled on the banks of the Dordogne, at the top of a rocky peak, Bourg stretches along its narrow streets, between the upper town and the lower town, linked together by a series of small staircases.

♥️ We recommend you visit the Citadel Museum which houses, underground, unusual old oil tanks from the Second World War, before relaxing by the outdoor swimming pool at the foot of the ramparts!

THE 17TH CENTURY “THE GREAT CENTURY OF LOUIS XIV”

The imposing ramparts of the Citadel of Blaye, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, majestically overlook the Gironde estuaryThis strategically positioned 17th-century fortress is one of three forts that make up the famous Vauban Lock and bears witness to the historical importance of the area.

♥️ We advise you to take a walk in train discovering history and heritage before enjoying ice creams with original flavors in the peaceful garden at Vanilla Lily

Nature lovers will love the incredible bird sanctuary of more than 120 ha in the heart of the estuarine marsh: Land of BirdsThis unspoiled setting is a true sanctuary where nature flourishes and reveals itself in all its splendor. It is home to numerous species of migratory and resident birds that the park welcomes all year round.

Get ready to share some very curious nature experiences with your family! On the program, bird watching with a telescope during a walk, a “storytelling” tour by naturalists for young people, birdhouse building workshops or even a “young adventurers day”, where children will learn how to get by in the great outdoors. How to make a cabin and a bow, make a fire, use a compass, or even find your way in the forest by following the clues left by our animal friends…

♥️ We recommend the Family Tuesdays special mornings to share special moments discovering the park's inhabitants.

Balance, calculation of forces and discovery of the law of gravity...

Direction the Natéa Park, one of the HQs for children of all ages here. Treetop adventures, deep in the forest, are the site's flagship activity, with courses designed for little ones as young as 3 years old. A true joy!

♥️ We recommend an afternoon of swimming at Moulin Blanc Lakes Estate nearby before enjoying Natéa's Guinguette, open every Thursday evening where many activities are offered, including treetop adventure at night.

To gently discover the village of Bourg, City Golf, a traveling mini-golf course in the city, allows you to combine sport and cultural discovery.

The village can be explored club in hand, along 10 holes (artificial, but also sometimes naturally tucked away at the corner of a street) scattered from tourist spots to unusual places. How many strokes will it take you to put the golf ball in the hole? And for the older ones, how can you calculate the trajectory of the small projectile to reach the target as quickly as possible?

♥️ We recommend the walking rally “On the trail of Robin". Become a detective and solve the 10 puzzles of the old village, from the market hall to the citadel gardens. A fun tour and free quiz to combine fun and culture!

Are you looking for something to keep your children busy or are you looking for an original idea to interest them in heritage, whether natural or built, and make them want to go for a walk? We take you on a Poï'z hunt with family, through 4 courses Terra Aventura.

It's a walk that takes the form of a virtual treasure hunt to captivate young and old alike, and transform the walk into a fun experience. The goal? To find the "Poï'z" of each route in its "cache," a fun little character to collect.

To do this, you move from tourist sites to must-see viewpoints, answering riddles presented as a story, told by the Poï'z themselves. Be careful, you've been warned: addiction guaranteed and acute badge collecting is on the horizon!

In Blaye Bourg Terres d'Estuaire, we also think of parents!

Here are our 4 favorites for enjoying time as a couple while keeping an eye on the children who will be going about their business...
